Is 3D/4D Ultrasound safe?  Are there any risks?
Ultrasound has been used as a diagnostic tool for more than 30 years.  Numerous studies have been done with no harm to mother or baby being documented.  Reputable and responsible 3D/4D centers limit scanning time to those much less than a typical 2D diagnostic scan. A 3D/4D ultrasound uses the same exact power levels as the conventional 2D ultrasound and the FDA sets the standard level that is safe to be used.

Who will perform my 2D, 3D/4D session?                                                                         Images of Life proudly employees sonographers who are registered by credentialing bodies such as the ARDMS.  Our sonographers are qualified to work in hospitals and doctor's offices in the field of ultrasound.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?
A referral is not need from your doctor to schedule a session your 4D session.  However, we do require that you are receiving  prenatal care and we encourage you to speak with your provider about your intention to visit Images of Life.  At no time should your session with Images of Life replace or substituted a routine diagnostic (anatomical survey) ultrasound or medically indicated ultrasound.

At what stage during my pregnancy should I visit Images of Life?                                    The best time to view your baby in 4D is between 24 and 32 weeks as the babies are building more fat and more facial features can be seen.  Some women may choose to visit Images of Life more than once during their pregnancy to see their baby's development. Gender may be determined at 16+ weeks.

May I invite guests to share in this experience?
Absolutely!  We encourage you to invite family and friends to share in this amazing experience.  We can comfortably accommodate 10 guests.

What determines the quality of my images?

The amount of fluid surrounding the baby, the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby, gestational age, fetal position and fetal activity can determine the quality of your pictures.  Some babies come ready for their close-up shots while others simply turn their backs on us, hide behind their hands and feet or cuddle up against the placenta and uterine wall. Every baby scans differently.  We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of your baby.

Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are necessary.  We want every family to have the same relaxing opprotunity to experience their baby, so we schedule appointments to prevent overlaping or rushed sessions.  We are not always available to answer the phone as we may be scanning an expecting mother.  Please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Please note...
Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with Images of Life must be receiving care from a healthcare professional, and must have already undergone a diagnostic ultrasound ordered by their provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies and to look for any other pregnancy related issues.
Our 4D ultrasound services DO NOT replace your diagnostic survey.
